Rona Kilmer Web/Graphic/Interactive Designer & Front End Developer

I've been in Denver for over a year and I'm still totally in love with the mountains. This is a picture I took from the top of one of the ski resorts, though I can't remember which one.

Diva and I in the Snow

I am a web designer from the Washington, D.C. area currently residing in beautiful Denver, Colorado. I've been employed in various agency environments for close to a decade, working on all sorts of print, web, and Flash/interactive projects for a myriad of clients. My skills extend to front-end development with proficiency in producing compliant CSS and XHTML code.

I don't get to do a lot of IA work currently but I am always looking for ways to expand my IA knowledge as it complements my other skills well. I find myself more and more interested in it. Probably, because it is so essential to the success of websites.

My career started after college at The AD Group. I quickly became a Senior Designer and delivered web projects for clients such as ExxonMobil and the National Pharmaceutical Council. My role as Senior Designer involved print design, web design, web development, account management, and new business.

In 2005, I joined Information Experts where I played a critical role as the sole Flash designer. I delivered Flash work for clients such as Sprint/Nextel, EPA, Bearing Point, and the World Bank. My web design and front-end development skills were utilized by clients such as the National Association of Manufacturers, Terex, and SPS.

In 2007, I accepted the Senior Designer position at Matrix Group International, a leading web development company in the DC Metro area. At Matrix, I designed websites, logos, Flash projects and other marketing materials for associations and non-profits including the National Park Foundation, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. My role as senior designer moved beyond typical design responsibilities and included managing the design department, providing art direction, mentoring junior designers, assisting in the production of IA/UX deliverables and ensuring IA and design processes were adhered to. I worked closely with front-end developers to ensure designs were implemented accurately and adhered to best practices. I also consulted with the new business department to define the scope and budget for proposals.

In 2008, I moved to Denver, Colorado where I am a senior designer at Webolutions, a web development and marketing company. I enjoy my work as a designer, front-end developer, and IA advocate.

In my spare time, I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, competing in triathlons (See why I moved to Colorado?), SCUBA diving, and most of all, traveling. I really enjoy photography too. I plan on adding some photos to the site in the not so distant future.
